Kindle: Amazon's Wireless Reading Device

My 22 year old daughter has not put the kindle down since Christmas morning! She has downloaded several books and read them throughout this christmas break. We have had it on display as family and friends have visited to view the newest addition to our techno family. My daughter only wishes she could down load the required text books for her upcoming final semester at Purdue.

I have had my Kindle now for about a month. Here are two lists for you, one stating the things I love about it and the other things I hate about it, plus some additional features I've yet to explore.

Love It
1. Screen is so incredibly easy to read
2. Lightweight and fits in my purse/bag
3. Battery life is amazing
4. Automatically remembers where I am in all the books I'm reading
5. Lookup for words I think I know, but need to verify
6. Wireless capability to download new books and browse Amazon store
7. 'Screen Saver' for those times when I don't want to turn the unit off, but still need to put back in my bag.

Hate It
1. Too many page turning buttons that are WAY TOO LARGE. Come on, do we really need a 4" button on the right side?
2. Limited file support - however, after comparing pricing on some recent books Amazon does have the best price.
3. Protective case doesn't really 'hold' the unit well (my back cover keeps popping off)
4. Sorting is limited - I want CATEGORIES!


Looking into
1. Found out there is a new app for reading Manga, really looking forward to trying that out!
2. Book light - screen is not backlit (and that's GOOD) but my new light is a bit bulky and awkward
3. Conversion of .pdfs to Kindle format - many others have written about that but I'm still not to that point.

This thing is AWESOME! It is one of the best gifts I have ever received... If you love to read, you need to have one of these... Thumbs up! 5 stars! 4 diamonds! Just really really cool!

The Kindle or similar reader with added functions will replace all paper books in the next thirty years. Just think, one kindle per child replacing all the books used from first grade through college. What a massive savings!

Easy to use, portable, lightweight, absolutely perfect. The best advice I would offer is buy it, try it, and you'll never want to be without it. At times there is a minor glare on the screen but changing the font size, brightness, etc has eliminated that minor irritation for me.
